Guardian Family

Peppermint Patty is available for a family living within one hour of Stanwood Washington. Being a Guardian Family isn’t for everyone. Our Guardian page tries to make it clear how much of a commitment it will be.

Peppermint Patty at four weeks

Hero Dog

Gracee is a girl we have in a Guardian Family. She has passed all of her genetic and physical tests and we are waiting for her to be old enough to be bred.

Here is a note we got from her Guardian Family.

“Last night I let Gracee out for her bedtime potty break. After bringing her back in, she continued to want back out by ringing her bell and barking. Her usual routine is to go "night-night" and head to her crate/bed without barking or resistance. While I was annoyed with her continuous barking over my "quiet" commands, I followed Gracee outside and noticed a her running and sniffing the retaining wall. By then, there was a definite fresh burning wire smell. I took a begrudgingly barking Gracee back inside and searched the back/ front of the house. I couldn't locate anything so I texted my neighbors to check their homes. Within minutes, my neighbor spotted smoke coming up from my retaining wall.

I called 911, the Firemen were able to put out a small fire that was on it's way to quickly becoming a big fire. Had it not been for Gracee's bark warnings, behavior and persistence I would have gone to bed with a fire burning away.

I may have already told you about her bear warning a few months ago, if not, add that to Gracee's good deeds. One evening she was anxiously running outside back and forth with her tail and head up, barking. When I went outside, my neighbor warned me that there was a black bear around the corner.”

We don’t advertise our Australian Labradoodles as Hero Dogs, but we won’t deny it if asked.

Gracee. Hero.

Our first three days

Fiona and Creed‘s third litter was born on July 19th, 2021.

They spent their first three days eating, sleeping and climbing on their mom.

Only a week to go

Fiona had an x-ray on Monday July 12th. Her reproductive vet counts ten puppies. They are due on the 19th.

Gruel. Play. Sleep.

At four and a half weeks the puppies get powdered kibble added to their formula.

Then they play.

Then they sleep.

First Formula

When the puppies in Evie's first litter were three weeks old they were introduced to formula. Some of them took to it more readily than others.

Play Time

At two (and a half) weeks old, Evie’s first litter of puppies are playful and walking about.

Napping at six days

Even while napping there is work to be done. The puppies practice eating, running and taking in their sleep.

Being a puppy is hard work.

Lunch on the Third day

Evie had her first litter on March 20th, 2021. After two whole days the nine puppies are doing everything we ask them to. Eating and sleeping and eating some more.

Counting puppies before they hatch

Fiona from the inside.

Our reproductive vet tells us that ten puppies (at least) are inside Fiona. With a January 3rd, 2021 due date we are told that she looks like a healthy girl.

Evie Loves The Pack

Of the four dogs, only Evie gets excited watching television.

Tummy Rub

Sophia went outside and found a belly rub.

Three weeks Feeding

The puppies spend less time eating but haven't slowed their growth. With the extension on the whelping box they are eating in shifts again. Tomorrow they will be introduced to formula.

Daphne Meets the Family

Daphne got to see her aunties Lilibet and Genevieve. Her grandma Penelope even stopped by to inspect her daughters and granddaughter. Fiona stayed out of it, having just fed Daphne and her ten siblings.

Toddling at two weeks

At two and a half weeks old and with the help of the fleece, the puppies are getting about on their own and making friends with each other.
